Mission Ministry serves as the church's liaison to Brazosport's
local food pantry, Brazosport Cares. Additionally two of the
ministry’s members serve on the Board.

We have done home repairs for families referred to us by Visiting Nurses/Hospice.

Members of this ministry serve on the Board of Habitat For Humanity , South Brazoria County. In
the fall of 1997, our church (led by the Mission Ministry) financed
and built a home. First Presbyterian has also been active in the
construction of three houses in 1998.

We annually sponsor a church-wide program to provide "back to
school" packets (school supplies and clothes) in August and Christmas presents in
December to the youth at the Itasca Presbyterian
Children’s Home.

We have provided both financial and construction aid to Camp Cho-Yeh, a Presbyterian camp in Livingston
Texas.
|
|
We have provided both financial and construction help to John Knox Ranch church camp near Fischer Texas.
|
|
For the past nine years this church group has provided financial
aid and construction skills for an annual week long South Cluster (group of churches in
Brazoria County and San Antonio) mission project including at Presbyterian Pan American School.

Mission Ministry has sponsored Pennies
For Hunger in our church to raise funds from the congregation to
alleviate hunger in the world.

Both financial and construction aid have been provided by this
church to Border Ministries across
the border from McAllen, Del Rio, and Laredo, Texas.

|
The Alternative Christmas Market is
an annual event at our church. It provides the local community alternative gifts for the
Advent season while supporting local and international non-profit agencies. Some of the
agencies that have been represented at the market are Heifer International, SERRV, Pueblo
For The People, other local church groups, Habitat For Humanity, Brazosport Cares, LVA,
Brazoria County Youth Home, Memorial Child Care, M.D. Anderson Christmas Cards, and Pan
American School.

Local Mission Projects are
sponsored for people in need in the community. We have poured sidewalks, built wheelchair
ramps, constructed a handicapped bathroom, repaired doors, fixed minor plumbing and
electrical problems. |
