 1ST SUMMER BREAKFAST

You are invited to breakfast on Sunday, June 9, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Fellowship Hall. Fellowship Team will host the breakfast. Sunday School, including Covenant Kids, will not meet on the Sundays that we share breakfast.

Please wear your nametag at breakfast. If you need a nametag, contact the church office at 297-3049 or fpc-lj@sbcglobal.net.

THE WATER PROJECT

We have just learned that money raised, during Lent and Easter, for the Water Project will be used, in part, to provide a well for a needy community in Rwanda. You can follow progress by going to www.thewaterproject.org/track and entering the church’s ID number - 23965. This is only one of the projects your gifts will be supporting.

BRAZOSPORT CARES NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

Brazosport Cares is the oldest food bank in the area. It serves the entire BISD resident area - not just Freeport. Its annual operational expenditures are $65,000 to $70,000, to which our church contributes. ALL workers are unpaid volunteers.

Currently volunteer worker needs are in two areas:
1. Incoming shipment food un-loaders. This occurs every other Monday, typically from about noon to about 2:00 pm.
2. Client interviewers fluent in Spanish. These work on Tuesday or Thursday from 9:00 am to noon.

Also, workers to help give out food are always needed on Tuesday or Thursday
mornings. If you feel the call to personally help feed the hungry in Brazosport in any of these roles, please contact Clif Dusek at 297-7019 or Director Christie Frey at 239- 1225
.

PENNIES FOR HUNGER

Pennies for Hunger will be collected in the Narthex before both services on Sunday, June 9, and dedicated during worship. Our collection benefits the Children’s Nutritional Program of Haiti. Pennies, spare change, even checks are welcome!

OKLAHOMA DISASTER RELIEF

The EPC is coordinating aid for Oklahoma through Samaritan’sNPurse. You may give directly, if you wish, through an online link at www.samaritanspurse.org/article/oklahoma-tornado-response/ Alternatively, gifts can be sent to First Presbyterian with “Oklahoma” in the memo line. Any money raised will be forwarded to Samaritan’s Purse.

HOME DELIVERED MEALS NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

Home Delivered Meals delivers meals to Lake Jackson, Clute and Freeport clients Monday thru Friday. Meals are delivered to homebound, ill or people who have some type of condition that keeps them from being able to make or go get meals. The meals are prepared by Brazosport Regional Hospital and then delivered to the clients by volunteers. The organization pays the hospital for the meals thru donations from the community and clients that are able to pay for their meals. The program is not government funded in any way. Home Delivered Meals is currently in need of drivers for Clute, Lake Jackson or Freeport routes. You can volunteer for one day a month. It works really well with 2 people, but can easily be done with one person delivering. The food is picked up at the hospital and is delivered to whichever area you volunteer for. It only takes about one and a half hours to deliver. If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, please call Kathy Newman at 798-6488 or Lib Cox at 297-4233.

 BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANG

You are invited to pick up a baby bottle from the table in Fellowship Hall on Sunday. By filling the bottle with loose change, bills or checks, you will support Pregnancy Help Center and Safe Haven. Last year, Pregnancy Help Center collected almost $55,000 from 62 churches participating in the project. The filled bottles are due back by June 16. Filled Bottles may be left on the table in the narthex or in the church office.
